How to Make a Buttery Biscuit Recipe

“You have to be able to eat and make your own biscuits, but you can’t get a recipe from a biscuit tin,” says Ms Jones.
“It’s the same with bread.
It’s a biscuity recipe, but it’s a bread recipe.”
A good biscuit recipe requires a lot of flour and butter and can take a while to make.
It can also take a long time to cook the biscuits, which means a good biscuity will need to be eaten within hours of baking.
“We don’t have the luxury of being able to make a biscut recipe from scratch and just eat the biscuits,” Ms Jones says.
“That would be really un-British.”
If you have a family-friendly biscuit shop near you, check their recipe page for a recipe for a delicious, healthy biscuit.
They’ll need to make an initial batch before you can try making your own.
And while you can buy biscuits made in the UK from the biscuit manufacturers, many have a variety of different ingredients.
Some have sweeteners like vanilla, sugar, or cinnamon to add flavour to the biscuits.
Some also have spices like cinnamon or nutmeg, while others use eggs, nuts, or even beef.
Buttermilk biscuits can be a bit more complicated.
“You can buy a homemade biscuit in Australia and it’s usually made with wholemeal flour, but in Australia the biscut makers use wholemeal bread flour,” Ms Smith says.
To get the right consistency, you’ll need a mix of wholemeal and wholemeal baking flour.
But you can also make your dough with flour you already have in your pantry.
Ms Jones suggests using a mixture of both wholemeal as well as wholemeal.
She suggests making a mixture with about 80 per cent wholemeal or a mix that contains about 50 per cent or a little more.
To make the dough, roll out your dough into a ball.
Add a tablespoon of water to the dough and set aside.
Next, place a teaspoon of the flour into a bowl.
You’ll want to cover the flour and the water in a pan and cook it over a low heat for about two minutes.
The dough should start to come together.
When the dough is nice and soft, fold it into a circle.
“The whole thing will be pretty sticky and there will be a little bit of dough stuck to the sides,” Ms Wood says.
Once the dough has been folded into a dough ball, shape it into an 8.5 x 4-inch round biscuit with the dough in the middle.
The shape will help the biscuits hold together.
Bake the biscuits in a hot oven at 200°C for 30 minutes.
“Biscuits need to bake for about an hour and a half and then the baking will be done,” Ms Williams says.
Cooks will tell you to cook for five to six minutes to get the biscuits soft and golden.
You may want to serve them with butter, but if you do, the biscuits will not hold together, which is bad news for anyone with an allergy to dairy products.
To cut the fat, Ms Jones recommends using butter that is slightly sweet or sweetened with maple syrup.
“A good way to reduce the fat is to add a little toasted sesame oil,” she says.
You can also use a food processor to finely chop the dough into small pieces.
Add this to the batter in the pan and mix well.
“This will create a little little bit more consistency,” Ms Woods says.
After baking, take your biscuit out of the oven and allow it to cool.
Once it cools, cut the biscuits into 1.5-inch thick slices.
“Use a cutting board to cut the biscuts into strips, which will form a round biscut,” Ms Butler says.
They can then be refrigerated until you want to eat them.
If you’re not up for the challenge, you can use leftover biscuits.
Ms Smith recommends cutting the biscues into smaller pieces and putting them in the fridge to chill before serving.
